A TIP FOR BLENDING Dave
If your blending skills aren't perfect then mix some washing up liquid in with your base colour, add some ink to thin and then paint it on over your blending. this will help blend your paint and stop it looking stripey. it's something to do with surface tension.

A FEW QUICK GENERAL TIPS FROM YOURS TRUELY: James
1: When painting metal, such as chainmail etc, paint the area black first, and then brush over lightly with the metalic colour you want.

2: When painting any model, even a plastic, NEVER use a brush that is too big. I would suggest a standard brush (like from the painting set) as the maximum size. Use an even smaller brush for painting fine detail, and make sure that when you are painting you don't put too much paint on the brush. The worst thing you can do is fill the detail on the model with paint! If this happens wipe the excess off with a tissue (or your finger,) and paint over it.

3: To make a model look really fancy you might want to have some colours changing gradually over a flat area. To achieve this you will need to start with one colour, and paint a small stripe. Quickly mix up the next shade on a mixing palette (or something) and paint this on adjecent to the 1st stripe while the first stripe is still wet, mixing slightly at the edge. Continue until you reach the desired colour. When mixing the paint, have quite a large amount of the original colour, and just keep on adding to it. You may need to add some white to the mixture as you go to stop it from becoming too dark. Experiment all you want!
